Isaac Toussie, Brooklyn’s Philanthropic Scion

Something that started as a simple donation of a block of theater tickets for a fundraising event has now turned into almost ten years of on-going charity for Isaac Toussie on behalf of a prestigious children’s organization, The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps (HITWC).  This charity was originally the vision of the late Paul Newman, but it is on account of generosity coming from the likes of Toussie that has helped it transform from a noble plan to a happy reality, benefiting hundreds of thousands of children and their families with a brief respite from the everyday struggle against a serious disease.

For nearly a decade, Isaac Toussie has helped kids be kids.  Together with his father, Robert Toussie, substantial donations to the HITWC in and around the tri-state area were made back in the days when the organization had five camps in the United States and Europe, with three more scheduled for development. The good news was the camps and their innovative programs were extremely helpful. The bad news was there were still millions of seriously ill children who needed the HITWC.

That’s whey such donations and fundraising as Isaac Toussie has been able to provide has been so critical.  What began in 1988 as Oscar-winner Paul Newman’s goal of opening a safe judgment-free place where children battling life-affecting illnesses can focus on just being a normal kid has since expanded into an international cause that has helped more than 200,000 children and families, free of charge. The worldwide network of camps and programs found throughout over a dozen countries offers life-changing experiences to children with serious medical conditions, experiences that help them conquer obstacles and achieve goals in a supportive and fun environment.

Isaac Toussie is committed to helping the less fortunate, especially those who cannot help themselves.  Researchers have actually found that children who attend HITWC sometimes respond better to their medical treatments on account of the increased optimism, personal growth, and sense of stability that is fostered by the programs each camp offers. This mission to give back to his community, however, wasn’t originally Isaac Toussie’s idea. It was actually inspired by his father, Robert Toussie. The younger Toussie has continued the family’s dedication to improving the quality of life of the less fortunate by funding medical research around the world. The Toussie family has worked with several charities, hospitals, and medical groups to help the sick, blind and poor across the country. It is well documented that thousands of people have benefited from the Toussies’ medical contributions. Lives have been saved, suffering has been diminished, and illnesses have been treated and, in some cases, even cured.
